Who is this for:
Everyone! All the stories are designed to be entertaining, bring a positive feeling, perhaps a laugh or two, and occasionally a "I didn’t see that coming" moment.
All stories are fictional, with some creative liberties taken.

Skip to: Story InformationAround the first part of July, 2025, we saw an ad about making money from Bible stories. It was firmly ignored. Interestingly, while working with ChatGPT, for some odd reason, we asked what it knew about the Bible and Theology. Needless to say, but you know we will, the whole process started.
The very first venture was to create a modern twist story to the “parable of the Prodigal Son". ChatGPT and us played around with and, to our surprise, we had a fun story, The Crypto Kid. From that point on, more stories were created because, well, it was fun.
Then a light went off. In August, we started tossing around some website ideas. Our enjoyment of these stories should be shared. Poof, here we are.
Back to topStory Information:
Skip to: LayoutEach story needed to have a modern feel to it, but keep the underlying theme of the scripture it was pulled from.
Next, each story needs to have some humor to it and, when possible, a really good twist at the end.
Three important rules:
The Exception Rule: There is an exception to every rule except the exception rule.
No one dies in my stories. (Already there is an exception – Cloud Storage Blues)
Preaching is not an option. (Yes, rule #1 comes into play here occasionally, like – Pastor J.)
The stories tell of a fictional life and the results that happened when confronted with the problem and a resolution.

Skip to: CategoriesEach story has a simple layout, title, image (somewhat related to the story), the retelling name, body, the bible verse it came from, a synopsis of how the bible and the story intertwine, and a link to go read the actual bible story.
The link just sends you to the Book and Chapter. You may need to scroll down to get to the section.

Skip to: Believe Image ExplainedAll stories are categorized by the part of the bible they came from. Legends in Dust primarily originates from the Old Testament, while Legends Enduring is largely drawn from the New Testament. But, in keeping with my zest for humor, the titles are fun and, perhaps, a little silly.
Legends in dust
Ancient scandals, wild miracles, and desert drama - retold with neon lights, boardrooms, and broken buffets. Where the oldest stories still land.
Troubled
When ambition meets greed and good sense leaves the chat. Deals, egos, and divine interventions - all marked "urgent."
Heroes
For every setback, a comeback. From deserts to deadlines, these are the tales of stubborn belief and second chances.
-
Bad Bets
When rules are bent, confidence outruns wisdom, and the fallout arrives unannounced. Choices that felt right at the time rarely age as planned.
Legends Enduring
Tough lessons, second chances, and just enough stubborn faith to make it through Monday. These are the heart hits with a modern punchline.
Money Talks
Wealth, work, and the weight of “enough.” Because sometimes, it’s not the paycheck that’s missing - it's perspective.
Helping Out
Second chances with a side of humility. Proof that no matter how far we run, grace somehow keeps better GPS.
-
Everyday Goodness
When hope meets hardship and still shows up early. Quiet courage, steady hearts, and a few small miracles along the way.
Misjudgment
Assumptions, shortcuts, and the quiet confidence that we are right—until we are not. A look at how easy it is to misread people, motives, and moments.
These are used entirely in the “All Stories” page. As the stories build out, subgroups will be installed.
Back to topBelieve Image Explained:
The image below is found on every page of the Not So Ancient Stories website, except on the Privacy and Terms pages. Following the image is the explanation of what it means (yes, I do get a bit preachy here).
There are four parts to the image: Believe, Forgive, Do Good, and Be Good.
Believe:
Probably the most well-known verse is John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Accepting Christ into your life and believing is the first step.
Forgive:
Forgiveness is one of the most important things a person can do. It does not relieve the person who did wrong. They still need to face the consequences of their choice. Forgiveness relieves you of the energy that can drain you, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. It is not always easy, but forgiving is a big help to your peace of mind.
Do Good:
Christ often spoke of doing unto others as you would want them to do unto you. Basically, treat people the way you would like to be treated. Help others when you can (keeping safety in mind). Donate to good causes. Simple things can make a difference. When walking by someone while shopping, and eye contact is made, a smile or a head nod, perhaps say hi as they walk by. Little things can make someone’s day.
Be Good:
Take care of yourself, physically, mentally, spiritually, and, especially, your health. Treat your body like it's your castle.
God bless, and we hope you enjoy our crazy and sometimes off-the-wall stories.
